To move ahead in a career, one must learn and apply interpersonal and communication skills, in addition to proper job training. This is one of the gems of advice two CityU alumni gave to some 2,050 new students attending the University Welcoming Ceremony with a "building self-confidence" theme, held in the Chan Tai Ho Multi-purpose Hall, 25 and 26 August.
Over 40 paintings in a smorgasbord of styles, including impressionism, cubism and traditional Chinese brush painting, are on display now in CityU's Multi-Purpose Room C from 21 to 25 May. CityU graduates have achieved encouraging job-seeking performance in 2002. An employment survey conducted by the University's Student Development Services (SDS) shows that, by the end of December last year, as many as 93.5% of its 2002 bachelor's degree programmes graduates, and 94% of its graduates from higher diploma and associate degree programmes have found jobs, started their own business or pursued further studies.

"My scan result suggested that I have a medium-to-high risk of getting osteoporosis."

About 300 guests, staff and students turned out on 16 January for the naming ceremony of the first residential block of City University's Student Hostels Project. The block was named the Jockey Club Humanity Hall, in honour of the generous contribution made by the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust towards the development of the student residences.
More than 300 CityU athletes competed at the ninth CityU Annual Athletic Meet, held at the Joint Sports Centre on 3 November, with a total of 15 new records in track and field events.
More than 50 staff and students were invited by the Student Development Services to visit a mockup of a room in the student hostels in late October.
