Basketball players from twelve secondary schools took part in an Inter-School Basketball Invitation Tournament, 24 July, organized by CityU's Student Development Services (SDS) as one of the sports events held in celebration of the University's 20th anniversary.
"Creativity stems from inspiration. But where can we get inspiration?" asks Christine To, a third-year student in the School of Creative Media, and the youngest scriptwriter in the history of Hong Kong film.
From 2 to 12 July 2004 at CityU, "Medialogue: 7.04cm" features over 60 multimedia works by School of Creative Media graduates. Twenty-three Faculty of Science and Engineering (FSE) students have formed two teams to enter the Robocon Hong Kong Contest -- Lovers' Reunion on 20 June. The winning team in the Hong Kong contest will represent Hong Kong at the ABU Asia-Pacific Robot Contest 2004 (ABU Robocon) in Seoul, Korea, in September.
CityU's Student Mentoring (SMS) and Supplemental Instruction (SI) Schemes empower senior students to enhance first-year students' learning skills and to boost their motivation. Professor Edmond Ko, CityU Vice-President (Undergraduate Education), presented certificates to SI and SMS supervisory staff, and student mentors and leaders on 27 May, 2004.
Global mobility is reshaping the world. With the speed of globalization, the rise of information technology and the dramatic increase in multinational enterprises, the world truly has become a global village. In order to prepare students for this reality, CityU encourages its undergraduate students to participate in overseas exchange programmes.
Fifteen CityU students from the Department of Building and Construction (BC), volunteered as architecture and cost planners in a student hostel re-development project in Guangxi province. The project, due to complete in October this year, will accommodate 288 primary students.
On 27th, March, CityU students excelled once again in the 6th Intervarsity Putonghua Recitation Contest.
About 100 students were present at the 21 April symposium on China's impact on Hong Kong's economy and job market. The event was organized by the Asia-Pacific Student Entrepreneurship Society (ASES) as a way to help students understand and prepare for their future careers.
