CityU Law Doctoral Candidate Shines at International Conference
The School of Law is proud to announce that doctoral candidate Ms. YA Shumei has won second prize at the 2024 Guangxi International Law Academy Annual Conference for her paper, “Problems and Solutions in Building an Efficient Legal Services System for Foreign-Related Matters in Guangxi: Focusing on Investment Facilitation as the New Trends in International Investment Law.” The paper stands out from over 150 papers received by the Conference and has been selected into Guangxi International Law Academy Collections.
The paper introduces the policies aiming at facilitating foreign investment taken by the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), as well as the commentaries between ASEAN and Guangxi. Based on this perception, the paper criticizes the legislation of Guangxi regarding its effectiveness in facilitating foreign investors by comparing the regulations applied in ASEAN and other Chinese provincial districts. Practical suggestions are provided for future improvements in Guangxi.
Ms. YA Shumei, under the supervision of Professor Julien Chaisse, continues to explore significant aspects of international investment law and alternative dispute resolution.
法學院博士候選人牙舒媚的論文《構建高效的廣西涉外法律服務體系的問題與對策——以投資便利化作為國際投資法的新趨勢為切入點》在廣西國際法學會2024年年會上榮獲二等獎。該論文從本次年會收到的約150多篇論文中脫穎而出，並入選廣西國際法學會論文集。
該論文介紹了東南亞國家聯盟(東盟)為便利外商投資所采取的政策和廣西與東盟的天然親近的特點。以此為基礎，通過比較東盟和中國其他省區的法規，對廣西在便利外國投資者相關立法的缺失和有效性進行了批評。最後對廣西今後建設便利外商投資法律體系提出了切實可行的建議。
牙舒媚師從於夏竹立教授，她將在繼續探索國際投資法和替代性爭議解決等領域。
