This project will provide software for optimised cable path planning and cable network optimisation, which will help surveyors and designers plan future cable paths, which are currently done manually.
By 2021, a total of 436 submarine fiber cables had been constructed worldwide, with a total length of over 1.3 million km worldwide. Another million kilometres of cables are planned for the next few years. Therefore, there is significant market potential for our software. Also, our software makes full use of GIS technology, and it has been shown that cost analysis using GIS on infrastructure construction can save nearly 30%.
The existing state-of-the-art methods used in the cable industry do not have a systematic and scientific methodology to design an optimal path between two sites. Many manual and empirical methods are used to determine the final route of the cable path, but they do not consider earthquake hazards, different design levels, and the impact of the slope of the topography, so it cannot provide high accuracy and an optimal path planning solution for users.
With minor updates, the software can also be applied to other critical infrastructure links, such as oil and gas pipelines and power transmission lines.
