CityU and Microsoft Hong Kong are collaborating in an initiative to help local SMEs improve their supply chain and logistics management.

CityU's E-KIT Laboratory in the Department of Manufacturing Engineering and Engineering Management (MEEM) will combine its expertise in logistics with advanced technology provided by Microsoft, to help local firms in processes such as order fulfilment and information sharing between customers and suppliers. Among the first local manufacturing companies to benefit from the project is Honeywell Consumer Products (HK) Ltd.

"Our commitment to the development and sustainability of Hong Kong business is matched by the dedication of Microsoft of Hong Kong," said Dr Richard Fung, Associate Professor of MEEM, and Director of the E-KIT Laboratory. "Our students will also benefit from the programme."

Under the collaboration plan, a three-day free feasibility service will be offered to interested local firms. Microsoft will donate the relevant free software, and provide technical support. MEEM students will contribute by assisting in feasibility studies for local SMEs. The experience will provide them with case studies for their final year projects and dissertations.
