City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) and the University of Cambridge have established an extensive and in-depth cooperative relationship this year. In December, a CityUHK delegation called on the University of Cambridge to enhance collaborative efforts and foster greater academic and research synergies.

A CityUHK delegation, led by Professor Kevin Downing, Secretary to the Council, visited various colleges and departments at the University of Cambridge. These included Clare Hall, Darwin College, Lucy Cavendish College, and Newnham College, among others. Between December 10 and 13, the delegation engaged in fruitful discussions with the senior management team and professors at the University of Cambridge, including Professor Sir John Aston, Pro Vice-Chancellor for Research, Professor Alan Short, President of Clare Hall, and Dame Madeleine Atkins, President of Lucy Cavendish College. The discussions focused on exploring ways to deepen the existing partnership between the two universities, aiming to reinforce and enhance the multidisciplinary cooperation between the two universities.

In October this year, CityUHK announced the launch of the CityUHK-Lucy Cavendish College Scholarships. This initiative will support up to 20 students annually from all disciplines with full scholarships to pursue a one-year, full-time master's programme at the University of Cambridge.

In this trip, there are two new scholarships set up between Cambridge's Judge Business School and College of Business at CityUHK, and Cambridge Digital Humanities, School of Arts and Humanities of the University of Cambridge and Department of Media and Communications at CityUHK.

The two new scholarships will sit in Lucy Cavendish College, and were signed by Professor Downing and Professor Henri?tte Hendriks, Vice-President of Lucy Cavendish College. The signing was witnessed by Professor Michael Wong Chak-sham, Associate Dean of the College of Business at CityUHK, and Dame Madeleine.
