The energy and environmental crisis calls for green and sustainable technologies to address challenges both facing our daily life and in the aero, marine, and space industries. Fortunately, nature-inspired engineering provides us with unlimited resources. By mimicking nature, we developed a robust artificial skin that is multi-functionally integral, free of energy input and eco-friendly. We offer a multi-pronged solution to address many long-standing challenges with artificial skin, such as attaching it to a building surface for self-cleaning and radiation cooling, attaching it to aircraft surfaces for anti-wetting and anti-icing, and attaching it to marine structures and ships for anti-bioadhesion, anti-corrosion and drag reduction.
