As one of the most progressive universities in the world, City University of Hong Kong (CityU) never ceases to blaze new trails. 

The University Anthem (Part 1) “Beyond Boundaries” launched last year demonstrated our culturally diverse and intellectually harmonious environment.

Part 2 released with the theme “Knowledge and Wisdom” encapsulates our aspirations to integrate teaching and research, and our determination to stay focused on education. The release completes the picture for the entire University Anthem.

We have continued to scale new heights during the past year. According to metrics compiled by Stanford University, over 170 CityU faculty members are listed among the top 2% of the world's most highly cited scientists, positioning us among the top 3 in Asia, in terms of the number of top scientists relative to total faculty. 

Our unique HK Tech 300 entrepreneurship scheme supports staff, students, and alumni who wish to apply university research to benefit society. Our first-ever CityU HK Tech Tiger attracts the best and brightest students.

These milestones form the background to Part 2 of the Anthem, which comes with the same melody as Part 1 but brand new lyrics, again written by President Way Kuo, in perfect harmony with the exceptional score composed by Mr Joe Lei. 

“Both the first and second parts of the Anthem capture our central character and ethos, echoing each other and singing out our special features, expectations and encouragement,” said President Kuo.

Over 60 participants from management, as well as students and alumni from across the globe helped to produce the promotional video, including taking on acting roles. Part 2 of the University Anthem debuted at the ceremony for our inaugural University Day on 18 March.
