“Dances with the Green – An Art Exhibition on Northeastern New Territories” reveals relationship between humans and nature

A series of cultural and art programmes will be held at City University of Hong Kong (CityU) from now until the end of 2014 as part of CityU Cultural Festival to celebrate the University’s 30th anniversary.

The first programme “Dances with the Green – An Art Exhibition on the Northeastern New Territories” now being held at CityU’s Run Run Shaw Creative Media Centre (CMC) includes exhibitions of photography, illustrations and installations, film screening, musical performance as well as workshops and seminars.

In the one-month art exhibition, the works of 11 photographers and illustrators titled “Style of the Northeastern New Territories that’s what we call life” will be displayed at CMC Gallery on L3 at CMC. In addition, the “Non-indigenous Lives – A four-part installation introducing artists in the Northeastern New Territories” curated by EmptySCape will be shown on L1, L3, L4 and the balcony of L9 at CMC. The installations, presenting the scenery of the northeastern New Territories and the daily life of local people from multiple angles, will help us reflect on the relationship between humans, nature and country. It also shows the artists’ concerns about the over-urbanisation of the countryside.

On the four Sundays (26 January and 9, 16 and 23 February 2014) during the exhibition, there will be forums, artist sharing sessions, workshops, film screening and musical performances. The programmes are mainly conducted in Cantonese with free admission. Below are some details of the programmes:
