CityUHK JUPAS Consultation Day 2024 introduces diverse learning experiences to broaden global perspectives

City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) will hold a JUPAS Consultation Day on May 18 (Saturday) from 1:00 to 5:00 pm. The event will introduce the new JUPAS admission arrangements, flagship programmes, exchange opportunities, scholarships for local JUPAS applicants, and the newly opened Student Hostel.

The Consultation Day will begin with an admission talk hosted by Dr CM Lam, Director of the Admissions Office, who will introduce CityUHK’s new admission arrangements and provide tips. DSE candidates participating in JUPAS can learn more about the admission requirements and application procedure of each college to prepare for programme reprioritisation.

The Consultation Day will feature approximately 40 admission talks, nearly 10 admissions consultation sessions, exhibitions, campus and facilities tours, and student and alumni experience sharing.

Actively expanding CityUHK’s global academic and research partners

CityUHK is committed to promoting inspirational, interactive and innovative learning experiences and has been actively expanding the number of global academic and research partners to promote international exchange. This year, CityUHK was ranked as the ‘Most International University in the World’ by Times Higher Education.

The University recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Lucy Cavendish College of the University of Cambridge. Under the MoU, CityUHK students will have the opportunity to study at the University of Cambridge for one year as part of their undergraduate programmes.

CityUHK also provides diversified learning opportunities and scholarships for undergraduate students, including the President’s Scholarship (HK$300,000 per annum) and Hong Kong Tech Scholarships (HK$200,000 per annum).

In addition, CityUHK proudly offers four Flagship Programmes: Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine (BVM), Bachelor of Business Administration Global Business (BBA GBU), Global Research Enrichment and Technopreneurship (GREAT), and Pathway for Research, Innovation and Multinational Engineering (PRIME). A full Flagship Scholarship provides HK$60,000 per annum, plus a special sponsorship of a one-off maximum amount of HK$500,000 for an overseas exchange of up to one year at a top-ranked university for these programmes.

The six-year BVM programme received dual accreditation from the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons in the United Kingdom and the Australasian Veterinary Boards Council. The BBA GBU programme offers a globally oriented curriculum and opportunities for students to develop a global mindset. The GREAT programme aims to nurture students interested in pursuing a career in scientific research and innovative technologies. And the PRIME programme is designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge needed to excel in the field of engineering and prepare them for successful careers in the global engineering industry.

New student hostel scheduled to open this year

CityUHK places great importance on students’ university life, based on the firm belief that they can learn and grow through exchanges with peers from different regions, backgrounds and cultures. The Student Residence at Whitehead, Ma On Shan is scheduled to open in either August or September this year. The residence will offer recreational and sports facilities, including a full-fledged indoor sports hall, a 3,000-square-foot gymnasium, and a 5,000-square-foot multi-function hall. The hostel will include ample public space, a landscaped podium, and semi-outdoor green decks. The total number of student accommodation places that CityUHK can provide will increase to nearly 6,000 after the opening of the new student hostel.

CityUHK is also committed to embracing diverse cultures and encourages students to broaden their learning fields and global perspectives. During Consultation Day, The Indra and Harry Banga Gallery held the “A Passion for Silk: The Road from China to Europe” exhibition, which displayed exquisite artifacts from China, India, France and Italy, revealing significant developments over the past 2,000 years. And The Wofoo Foundation Gallery in the Run Run Shaw Library held a stunning multimedia exhibition titled (Re)births, encouraging the public to protect and cherish valuable heritage.
