Project on Children and Adolescents at Risk Education (Project C.A.R.E.), under the C.A.R.E. Lab of City University of Hong Kong aims at developing innovative interventions with different approaches in reducing and preventing aggressive behaviour and victimisation of school bullying in Hong Kong.

This project had adopted Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT) in group counselling working with the exercise of systematic anti-bullying education to improve the growth environment of schoolchildren and simultaneously address the school bullying issue comprehensively. After succeeding in implementing the Project C.A.R.E., the research team also invented various innovative approaches of intervention to reduce aggressive behaviour of schoolchildren and tackle the problem of school bullying. The innovative interventions include: Traditional Chinese Martial Arts and its Ethics, Omega-3 Supplementation and Brain Functioning Enhancement, and Social Information Processing Model Based Group Storytelling.

This project was funded by an HKD 11 million Quality Education Fund (QEF) of the HKSAR Education Bureau (EDB). After completing the Project C.A.R.E., the Principal Investigator has received three General Research Funds (GRF) of the University Grants Committee for a total of about HKD 1.9 million. Since 2006, our research team has served over 120 primary and secondary schools in Hong Kong. Significant local and international impacts and contributions of the research projects have been highly recognized, which well proved by the following awards received time after time:

  • 2019 "Research Impact Award," College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences, City University of Hong Kong.
  • 2017 "Knowledge Transfer Award, Certificate of Merit” College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences, City University of Hong Kong.

Further, this website also provides intervention strategies and skills for teachers, school social workers, counsellors and parents to deal with different subtypes of aggressors and victims, with the hope that they will become more effectively involved in reducing and preventing school bullying.

After implementing the Project C.A.R.E., the PI continuously developed different approaches in reducing aggression among schoolchildren and generated different impacts on society. If you are interested, feel free to explore the following websites:
