More than 100 students attended the third talk in the Civility Dialogue Series on 17 September, by Hong Kong politician Dr Rita Fan Hsu Lai-tai, on “The rise of China & university students in Hong Kong”.
Mr Edward Yau Tang-wah, Secretary for the Environment of the HKSAR Government, delivered a talk entitled “Hong Kong - A Green City?” on 17 September, analysing the environmental status in Hong Kong. The talk is organised as part of a new multi-disciplinary programme offered by CityU.
A reception in honour of CityU’s 12 Cheung Kong Scholars was held on 16 September. The scholars from business, humanities and science and engineering fields contribute tangibly to CityU’s role in developing professionals and research in mainland China.

Professor Way Kuo, President of CityU, attended the 11th Annual Meeting of the China Association for Science and Technology and presented his paper “Reliability in the 21st Century” that discussed the importance of reliability research to China’s future development.
Mr Timothy Mo, an award-winning Anglo-Chinese novelist, and Professor Zhang Longxi, Chair Professor of Comparative Literature and Translation at CityU held a dialogue on 4 September to discuss cross-cultural understanding and interaction.
CityU offered law students the valuable opportunity to study competition law over the summer at University College, Oxford, England through the Global Legal Education and Awareness Project.
